A pink flamingo

When I saw this stamp with a little flamingo on it I really didn't know what to do with it, but I love love love how it turned out, it suits this new punch beautifully, a little pink to colour this little flamingo and it finished it off nicely.

Note:  To achieve the early espresso mat behind the punched out image, I punched 2 more early espresso decorative label punches, trimmed the 2 smaller sides on one punched shape, then the two longer sides on the second punched shape then glued them behind my original punched image.  May need to trim a little if some doesn't fit exactly, but it works pretty well.

So worth the wait.

There is a challenge this week over at JAI to make a card/project using the colours of your favourite chocolate wrapper.  I love love love anything with peppermint in it, but my all time fave is the peppermint chocolates from Haighs!  Why the title of this post?  If I am lucky (as they are quite expensive)I get these delicious morsels 3 times per year, my birthday, valentines day and mothers day, sometimes I even am lucky enough to get them at Christmas! And yes - they are so worth the wait lol.

Here is the wrapper or beautiful gift box these beauties come in, and if you follow my blog you may have seen this same box in a couple of posts :) :

all white and gold.

Here is my card:

I wanted the gold embossed border to imitate the Haighs chocolate box

Looks like a fairly simple card to make huh? Its not one I am keen to try again anytime soon lol, the embossing of the gold border gave me all sorts of grief for whatever reason, and after 5 attempts, i settled on this one :)

SU doesn't have gold satin ribbon, so on my heat resistant mat i put some gold metallic reinker, spritzed it with water, spread it with my hands until I was happy with the smooth consistency and then dumped the white satin ribbon in the concoction.  Heat set it with the heat gun and I have instant gold satin ribbon.

Details:  All SU unless stated.

Stamp Sets:  Word play, Eat chocolate
Ink Pads:  Chocolate chip, versamark ink pad, versamark pen
Cardstock:  whisper white, brushed gold
Tools:  Heat gun, Glue gun(non SU)
Other:  Gold embossing powder, White satin ribbon, Gold metallic ink refill (retired), water spritzer, crystal effects

Strength and Hope

As soon as I saw this set in the New Mini catalogue, I knew it would be on my first order.  I am sure most people know someone or there lives have been touched by someone who has had breast cancer.  This stamp set is gorgeous and the best thing?  From every set sold WORLDWIDE of this fabulous stamp set Stampin' up! donates $2 towards breast cancer research.  As women there has never been a more worthwhile cause, and I for one jumped at the chance to not only own a new stamp set, but to aid in the fight against one of the biggest diseases to affect women - Breast Cancer.

Here is a piccie of the set:

Here is my card:

The big double butterfly was made with the bigz butterfly die, and the antennae was used from the strength and hope stamp set.

The H has been stamped, cut out and raised on dimensionals

some basic pearls have been added to the butterfly, and the tulip frame embossing folder was used on the white cardstock.  The butterflies were popped into the very vintage embossing folder, which I had inked the inner embossing folder in pretty in pink, then run through the big shot machine.

Details:

Stamp Sets:  Strength and hope
Ink Pads: Pretty in pink, Rose red
Cardstock:  Pretty in pink, Whisper white, Rose red
Tools: Big shot machine, framed tulip embossing folder, bigz butterflies die
Other: Basic pearls, dimensionals

Some new punch art???

I was definitely in the mood tonight to sit and create some punch art - I used the colours in the inspiration card from Pals Paper Arts and the challenge over at Stampin' Royalty which is Spring has sprung for the main ideas of my card. I  also had an address book in my stampin room that was the inspiration behind this French looking urn - can you guess the 3 punches I used to create the actual urn??

The bowl of the urn I used the owl punch, chopped off of the ears and feet, and slimmed down the sides, the stem is made from the cupcake punch and slimmed down, and the base is used from the 1 1/4" punch.
I also used the spring blossoms punch to create the leaves for the base of the flowers.  The little fancy bits on the side of each urn were just hand cut.

I used the rock n roll technique on the flowers in the urn and the Fleur De lis symbol.

I coloured the urn with a variety of colours and used the white gel pen for all the highlights.

I created my own crinkle ribbon using a white seam binding and colouring with my reinkers and a spritz or two of water - and don't forget the heat gun :).

Details: All SU unless stated

Stamp Sets: Greenhouse Garden, French script(retired), Carte postale (retired)
Ink Pads: Crumb cake, old olive, pretty in pink, Rose red, different markers for urn
Cardstock: Whisper white, Very vanilla, Pink pirouette
Punches: Owl punch, Build a cupcake punch, 1 1/4" square punch, spring blossom punch, modern label punch.
Tools: Heat gun to crinkle ribbon, water spritzer bottle, aqua painter
Other:  white seam binding (not SU as its not available here), white gel pen,

Pick a memory #1

A few posts back now I showed you the post on Pick a Memory.  Anyway a couple of weeks ago we had our first attempt at it, my son picked one but as it was raining we couldn't go on the chosen bike ride, so he dipped into the glass bowl once again and it came up "create cupcakes".  Well this went down a treat, so we got out the mini cupcake maker, I organised some toppings, and wullah, 40 or so cupcakes, decorated by master 4.  What a mess we made, but what fun we all had.  Here are some piccies of the finished product!

The pick a memory jar:

and the yummy if somewhat top heavy, overly decorated (big grins) cupcakes lol:

yummy toppings, mini marshmallows, sprinkles, cashous, and little
farm animals and roses

Happy sigh, I love to spend time with my little one, even if it is only an afternoon creating cupcakes :)

I will be back throughout the year with more Pick a memory adventures.
