A small story to share......

Yep today is my birthday, another year older and it seems to come around way tooooo fast lol.

Anyway I wanted to share a small story with you:
I get packages regularly from overseas, with different things I buy, add that to my Stampin' Up! boxes, and I see my postal courier lady OFTEN!! lol.  Anyway, hubby thought he would be funny and kept a Stampin' Up! box, reprinted an address label, with birthday deets on it, and left it at the door then rung the bell, just as my delivery lady does.  How cute, he also made up an invoice for the inside of the box with its contents, and as my son is used to doing, he grabbed a pen and told me to check it off while he pulls all items from the box, One item on the invoice  I particularly loved was -  the refill hugs and kisses  from Harry  lol, and also inside I got my new ranger applicator spinner, 3 packs of nesties (can never have too many), a new novel, some chocolates, a handmade card from both my boys, and that darned packaging paper from SU lol.  How cool is that?
Now for my main pressie, tonight I am off to see Michael Buble in concert again, we love him :)

and..... I saved you a piece of birthday cake - enjoy!

A princess kind of party

My little miss 4 niece, is turning a big 5, so she is having a princess party to celebrate, turning 5 is big in our family as it is the transition year from kindy to school, then the games begin lol.  I have another few months to worry about that with Harry, but todays post is about Georgia.  She was determined to have a princess party, and I did try and change her mind, why? I don't own any princess stamps lol.  Anyway, I lost the fight as you do with a soon to be 5 year old, and put my thinking cap on.

Here is what I came up with:

A princess carriage!

Popped a magnet on the back, and they are ready for the fridge

Nestabilities - Classic circles, Classic ovals, scalloped ovals,
Dies: scribble swirls, D'vine swirls cuttlebug folder
Punches: Modern label punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1" circle punch
Other: Dazzling diamonds, 2 way glue pen, sticky strip, magnets for the back, delish crown brads, basic rhinestones, white gel pen, sponges - and plenty of patience!

For you

Over at City Crafter Challenge Blog this week, the challenge was to create a one dimensional card, so no layering, buttons, lace etc.

Well it did prove to be a challenge, so I used the emboss resist technique and came up with this card:

This next one I did with a little layer on it, I like them both.

Some Happy mail

I was sooo excited today, as when I got home I had a special parcel waiting for me!  What was it you ask?  Back in December Shelli Gardner, our Stampin' up! CEO ran a challenge (as she does each month).  This challenge was for christmas.  You can see my entry HERE.  Anyway I was one of a few winners, yippee!!!.  Anyway here is the gorgeous card I received today with my free stamp set of my choice (not pictured).

This lovely card was from Aaron Scott on behalf of Shelli. Gorgeous isn't it?

So that is my happy mail that I wanted to share with you all.  Thank you Aaron, and thank you Shelli.

A clear scallop square die

This would have to be the most versatile die I have purchased to date for my trusty work horse the big shot machine, once I started, there are so many uses for it I loved it
Item # 115950

Place your scallop die plastic side down on your big shot, on top of one
cutting mat

Place a piece of 12cm x 12 cm cardstock on the top of the die, then your
second cutting mat (not shown)

Roll it through the big shot and you will end up with it as shown above.

TO create a rectangle, put the scallop die cut back over the die to whatever
size rectangle you require, making sure the scallops align.

Again roll it through the big shot (add your top cutting mat)
This is what it looks like

Continue on until you get the size you want, either rectangle or square,
there are so many options with this die.

 Have fun

another little sweet treat box

Here is another sweet treat box, this one I found on the net somewhere, but for the life of me can't find who by, so if anyone knows please let me know so I can add there name and link here.  Ok, I played around with the measurements until I found a basic box base to go inside these two scallop dies.  This would make a quick and easy loot bag for a kids party, and if the lollies are in a cello bag, you could minus the acetate on the windows, to get your costs down, and it will still look great.

Details:

Stamp Sets:  Curly cute, Party this way
Ink Pads:  Riding hood red.  Pacific Point
Cardstock: Whisper white,  Riding hood red
DSP: Play Date DSP
Punches: Square scallop punch
Tools:  Big shot machine, paper piercer (for the brad holes)
Other: silver brads,  square scallop clear die, acetate for the window, sticky strip (a must for boxes)

Backyard camping?

My mum watches my son (4) on a Monday and Tuesday while I work,  my 4 year old niece who lives there is his constant playmate, they are both lucky to have each other.  We regularly go camping and the kids love it, so one day mum managed to capture some photos of the two of them "camping" in the back yard.  They had taken there play tents outside (they each have one), and their chairs.  Somewhere they had found some candles.  Whoever thought to put the pebbles from the garden around the candle is beyond me, but one of them did, and this is the result, two kids, sitting around a campfire - PRICELESS!!!

I found a sketch over at Sketches in Thyme so thought I would try it out:

I have wrapped twine around the "tree"

Details:

Ink Pads:Early espresso, crumb cake
Cardstock:  Crumb cake, Wild Wasabi
DSP: Woodland walk
Punches: Decorative Label, scallop trim border punch
Tools: cutter kit, big shot machine, timeless type alpha die
Other:chipboard elements(from my stash), flatback buttons (stash), vintage brads, twine, white gel pen.

happy birthday

I hope you enjoyed some of my scheduled posts over the weekend, I am back from my mini holiday, and ready for the coming week. Was strange, didn't even take my laptop away for the weekend and it was bliss.  Thought I may be able to sneak a card in before dinner :)
Its dads birthday coming up so I went over to Just Add Ink to check out their sketch challenge for this week.  Here is the challenge:

Paper is folded to appear pleated, the ribbon overlays through the middle, then the string from the vintage tag runs the length of the ribbon for added interest.
the "D" is an ideaology type charm, and have layered it onto a Stampin' Up! vintage tag.  The D stands for dads name.

Cardstock: Very vanilla, marina mist, crumb cake
DSP:   Elegant Soiree
Punches: Curly label punch, ticket corner punch
